Rabies in Seals

An alert has been issued, rabies has been observed in a small number of seals along the Western Cape Coastline.  Please be vigilant when walking on the beaches, if you see any seals that appear to be aggressive please stay away from them and ensure you inform the authorities.  It is important to keep your dogs on leash to ensure that there is no transference of the disease, one case of a dog getting rabies from a seal has been reported in Cape Town.
