Connect

We are very fortunate to live in a unique environment with some of the rarest plant & animal species in the world. The Garden Route is considered one of the few places on earth with such rich plant diversity in our fynbos and this is something to celebrate, conserve and enjoy.

As a member you are contributing directly to the sustainability of that biodiversity for one and all, for generations to come - thank you.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We always appreciate communication to be two-way. So please let us know about anything you'd like to see more or less of, or perhaps just great ideas you have. We engage regularly as a member group through the following channels:

  • Our newsletter.

  • Regular conservation events to attend.

  • Regular conservation initiatives & projects to take part in.

OUR VISION

To protect the biodiverse, indigenous fauna and flora of the Cola Myoli Beach area through responsible management and care of our environment, including:

  • Protecting and maintaining the existing ecosystems.

  • Promoting environmental awareness among the residents and visitors to our area.

  • Promoting and increasing areas of indigenous plants and trees and to eradicate invasive alien vegetation.

  • Promoting community projects to share the management of the environment.

The Conservancy is registered with Cape Nature and our mission is to protect the biodiversity of our fauna and flora, living in harmony with nature. Our terrain forms part of the unique Cape Floral Kingdom, an ecosystem that has been recognized internationally as a World Heritage Site.

What is a Conservancy?

A conservancy is a community-driven initiative aimed at conserving natural resources, biodiversity, and ecosystems. It involves landowners, residents, or stakeholders who voluntarily collaborate to manage and protect the environment in a sustainable manner. Conservancies can encompass private, communal, or public land, and their efforts often focus on preserving habitats, protecting wildlife, and promoting environmental stewardship. Conservancies play a vital role in balancing conservation with economic activities like agriculture and tourism. They often work closely with local communities, government bodies, and organizations to raise awareness, implement conservation strategies, and ensure sustainable land use practices. By fostering cooperation and shared responsibility, conservancies contribute to the long-term health of South Africa's unique landscapes and wildlife.
