It is important to pick up dog poop when walking your dog in the suburbs and on the beach to protect the environment and keep public spaces clean for everyone to enjoy. Leaving dog poop on the ground can pollute waterways, harm wildlife, and contribute to the spread of diseases. Furthermore, it is unpleasant for families, especially with children, to encounter when they are enjoying the beach. By being responsible and picking up after your dog, you are helping to keep our beaches and neighbourhoods clean and safe for everyone. Thank you for doing your part in preserving the beauty of our community. 

The conservancy provides bags for you to use at the Cola Beach parking, please carry your own if you are walking in the suburbs.  It is important to make sure that the bag is tied securely before disposing of it to ensure there is no unpleasant experience for the municipal workers when they empty the bins.

Rabies Warning 2024

Rabies in Seals An alert has been issued, rabies has been observed in a small number of seals along the Western Cape Coastline.  Please be vigilant when walking on the beaches, if you see any seals that appear to be aggressive please stay away from them and ensure you inform the authorities.  It is important to keep your dogs on leash to ensure that there is no transference of the disease, one case of a dog getting rabies from a seal has been reported in Cape Town.
